From broken beat to the beat-less, Deetron accomplishes another trademark mix where ever track is gold under his deft hands. A feat where many try but only few manage to succeed.

A true veteran who is equally accomplished as both DJ and Producer, Deetron is likely a hero and inspiration to countless music professionals. Since his last well-balanced ‘Balance mix which saw a double mix with one CD entirely mixed on vinyl and the other entirely digital, Deetron returns with Fabric 76, another outstanding mix series for the famed London club.

Not everyone can appreciate a Deetron set. Because like life, this mix is unpredictable. There are curveballs, surprises, reflective and energetic moments. If you prefer monotony and single-coloured sets, then this mix is not for you. But for those who love variety, then Deetron has done another amazing job of picking up the electronic world’s finest in one mix.

In his words, “I basically followed the pleasure principle when approaching the mix," he says. "I started to pick my favourite pieces of dance music regardless of age or sub-genre and didn't really begin to structure the mix until all the tracks had been cleared, except for one. So as I began to throw the tracks together as spontaneously as possible, the structure of the mix began to take shape.”

Collecting an impressive and very tasty 28 tracks into the mix, Deetron’s trademark 3-deck fast mixing showcases the prime portions; the meaty parts of each track before moving on to the next wave. Tracks are layered and sequenced to create new tracks in themselves. Plotted on a graph, his mix is a series of ever-increasing and undulating peaks, culminating in Nils Frahm’s ‘Says’ with the applause at the end a cheeky ender to the performance.

The variety will keep all music fans on his side. From the percussive opening overlaid with Jaime Read’s ’Timewave’ to the raw and rough beats of Greg Beato to the slow and soulful Seven Davis Jr.. To the broken beats of Four Tet & Danjah to the beat-less Design A Wave, Deetron does not stick to one particular subset. And that is a good thing.

The journey is fast-paced but restful. How he manages to accomplish such a juxtaposition yet keeping constant pace is mastery at work. No doubt at a club, this mix would have brought clubbers to new highs and lows.
