"Fuck it. I'll release what I want." Such a mantra has undoubtedly made Bristol artist Jacob Martin, better known as Hodge, one of techno's most exciting new names.
With a sound that has steadily evolved, taking influences from his city’s penchant for bass and genre experimentation, Hodge has never been one to allow himself to be pigeonholed into a particular genre. With a sound that infuses the bass weight of dubstep, he has been known to seamlessly lace different genres together, from dark and banging techno to glittering ambient - the proof is in his varied discogs listings.
His productions have been released on respected labels like Midnight Shift, Hotline, Tempa, Hemlock Recordings and Berceuse Heroique, and Hodge has proven himself quite the chameleon, while carving out a signature sound with his marriage of bass and melody. As Resident Advisor squarely puts it, “Each of his records are quite different, but all are essential listening.”
Hodge’s debut at the Headquarters promises to be a melting pot of the UK sound, complete with bashy drums and driving basslines that are sure to send the dance floor into a frenzy.
